Test your webcam online with live preview
Use a live webcam preview to check your framing, then check microphone selection and speech separately. Learn what a mirrored preview cannot confirm.
An online webcam mirror can help you check your framing, but a live image does not confirm that your webcam’s microphone is capturing speech. To check audio, you need a separate microphone check that identifies the selected input and, ideally, lets you listen to a recording.
Check what the live preview shows
Use the preview to check that you are visible and positioned as intended. If the tool offers a mirror setting, it changes the left-to-right orientation of the displayed image. That visual setting does not establish whether a microphone is working.
Check the microphone used with your webcam
If the test provides audio controls, check which microphone is selected. Choose your webcam’s microphone if that is the input you want to evaluate; a laptop microphone, headset or other connected input would test a different source. If microphone access is requested, allow it only if you intend to use the audio test.
If an input-level indicator is available, speak and check whether it responds. A response indicates activity on the selected input, but it does not establish that your words sound clear. If recording and playback are available, record a short spoken sentence from your intended position and listen for understandable words, distracting background noise and missing or distorted speech.
What remains unconfirmed
No documentation or test results were supplied for a particular online tool or webcam. Its mirror controls, audio features, browser support and microphone quality therefore remain unconfirmed. If the page offers only a camera preview, use a separate audio check, then confirm the selected microphone in your conferencing application before a call.
