How to Reduce Noise from a FIFINE Microphone During Calls

Practical steps to reduce background noise from a FIFINE microphone during calls, recordings, and video meetings.

Identify the symptom and environment

Start by describing exactly when the noise appears. Note whether it happens in a video call, a voice recording, or a live stream, and which app or browser is being used. Also record the operating system and whether the FIFINE microphone connects through USB or an audio jack. This helps separate microphone-related noise from software or connection problems.

Isolate where the fault occurs

Test the microphone in another app to see whether the same background noise appears. In a desktop operating system, open the sound settings and check the input level while speaking normally. If the level is very high or constantly near the maximum, the microphone may be amplifying room sound unnecessarily. Check whether the app has its own microphone selection and noise suppression setting; a call or recording tool may be using a different input device than expected.

Keep the microphone away from fans, keyboards, and hard surfaces that can reflect sound. Move closer to the microphone and speak at a steady volume. If the microphone has a gain control, reduce it slightly and test again. The goal is to determine whether the noise comes from the environment, the connection, or a software setting.

Try reversible fixes in order

Begin with the least disruptive changes. In the operating system sound settings, select the FIFINE microphone as the input device and lower the input level until the meter stays in a moderate range during normal speech. If the app has a noise suppression or echo cancellation option, enable one setting at a time so the effect is clear. Some voice apps also have an automatic gain control option that may raise background noise when the speaker is quiet; turning it off can help.

Check the sample rate in the input device properties. Matching the microphone's expected sample rate to the app or operating system setting can prevent crackling or digital noise. Version differences matter: the exact menu location varies between operating system releases, so use the sound settings search field where available instead of assuming a universal path.

If the USB microphone is connected through a hub or extension cable, connect it directly to a port on the computer for a short test. A poor connection or shared USB port can introduce noise. Change only one factor at a time and return to the original setup if there is no improvement.

Confirm the result

Record a short test in the same app where the problem occurred, then listen for the original noise. Speak at a normal distance and pause between sentences to check how much background sound remains. Compare the result with the same test made before changing settings, without adjusting the microphone position or room conditions in between. The original symptom is resolved only when the unwanted noise is clearly reduced during normal use, not just in ideal test conditions.

If the problem remains

Keep a short note of which app, operating system, connection method, and settings were tested. If the noise appears on another computer with the same microphone, the microphone or its cable is more likely to need support. If the same noise appears with another input device on the original computer, the issue may be in the port, cable, or software environment. Use these observations when contacting FIFINE support or a repair service; background noise alone is not proof that the microphone has failed.
