How to Multistream with StreamYard
Step-by-step instructions for multistreaming with StreamYard, including destination setup, quality checks and common fixes.
Before you start
Multistreaming in StreamYard sends one live broadcast to several destinations at once. The process runs through StreamYard's hosted studio: your camera, microphone and screen are captured in the browser or app, while StreamYard's service encodes and distributes the stream. You need a StreamYard account, a browser or supported app, a working camera and microphone, and the destination accounts you want to stream to. Destination availability and limits depend on the current StreamYard plan and the connected platforms.
Step-by-step instructions
Open StreamYard, sign in, and create or select a broadcast. Before streaming, connect each destination in the Destinations area. This normally means choosing a platform such as a social video service, following the account connection flow, and confirming any permissions requested by that platform. Connect each destination once so it remains available for the broadcast.
In the broadcast studio, check the camera, microphone and screen-sharing controls. Select the correct camera and audio input, test the microphone level, and arrange any on-screen banners, comments or guests before continuing. Keep the preview private while preparing.
Start the stream using the main Go Live or Start Broadcast control. With multiple destinations active, StreamYard sends the same program feed to each destination. Use StreamYard's controls to stop individual destinations or end the whole broadcast. Ending a destination through StreamYard does not automatically delete the copy or post saved by the connected platform.
Check the output
Open one or more destinations on another device or account to confirm the broadcast is visible with the intended picture and sound. Pay attention to audio sync, video framing and time in a short private test when possible. Keep in mind that each platform applies its own processing, so resolution, latency and saved clips can differ. If a destination shows a platform error, stop and restart that destination from StreamYard before ending the broadcast.
Common problems and next steps
If a destination will not connect, reauthorize it from the Destinations panel and check the platform account permissions. If video freezes or audio drops, close other bandwidth-heavy apps, use a wired connection where possible, and lower the video quality setting that StreamYard provides. If viewers see the stream in one place but not another, compare the destination status in StreamYard with the error shown on the affected platform.
When a platform is not listed as a native StreamYard destination, use a custom RTMP destination after confirming that the platform supplies settings and permits that type of stream. Destination lists and limits change by plan and over time, so if an expected option is missing, check the current StreamYard plan details. After each broadcast, return to the studio or Destinations area to disconnect any account you no longer want connected.
