MY WEBCAM TEST GUIDE

How to Adjust Logitech Webcam Focus Settings

Practical steps for changing Logitech webcam focus settings, checking the result, and fixing common sharpness problems in video calls and recordings.

Before you start

Focus behavior depends on the webcam model and the software that controls it. Many Logitech webcams use autofocus and do not expose a manual focus slider. Check whether your model is listed as autofocus or fixed focus before changing anything, because the available controls differ. The process runs locally on your computer through Logitech software or the app using the selected camera; it does not require an online account for the focus adjustment itself.

Close other apps that may be using the webcam. A video call or browser-based camera test can hold the selected camera open and prevent focus changes from appearing. Also connect the webcam directly to the computer rather than through a hub if the device is not being detected.

Step-by-step instructions

  • Open the camera control software that supports your Logitech model, such as Logitech G Hub, Logi Tune, or Logitech Capture. The exact name depends on the product line and operating system.
  • Select the Logitech webcam as the selected camera in the app.
  • Look for a focus control in the video or camera settings. Some models show Exposure, Gain, White Balance, and Focus together; others may only show autofocus as enabled or disabled.
  • If a manual focus slider is available, turn off autofocus and drag the slider slowly while watching the preview.
  • If the software only offers autofocus, leave it enabled and use lighting or subject distance to help the camera lock onto the intended area.
  • Close the settings window after the change. The new value is normally applied immediately and remains available to other apps until changed again.

Check the output

Open a live preview in the same control software or start a short recording. Position a detailed object, such as printed text, where your face would normally be and check whether edges are sharp. Move slightly closer and farther away if the model uses autofocus, then confirm that the image settles instead of continuously hunting.

Changing focus does not improve a low resolution or low frame rate image. If the preview is pixelated or choppy, treat that as a separate video quality setting. Focus adjustments also cannot correct poor lighting, although better lighting usually helps a webcam produce a clearer autofocus result.

Common problems and next steps

  • Focus option is missing: the model may be fixed focus or controlled only by autofocus. Confirm the model's specifications instead of assuming a hidden manual setting.
  • Image stays blurry after adjustment: clean the lens with a dry microfiber cloth and improve front lighting. Avoid bright backlighting behind the subject.
  • Autofocus keeps searching: reduce movement behind you and add steady light on your face. Some software lets you lock exposure or focus after the camera settles.
  • Changes do not appear in a meeting or browser tool: check whether that app has separate camera permission. The browser may also be using an older resolution while the control software shows a different preview.
  • Camera is not exposed to the control software: close other camera apps, reconnect the USB cable, and select the Logitech device again in the software device list.
