How to Use the VEED Webcam Test
Practical steps for checking your camera with the VEED webcam test, including permission, device selection, preview quality checks, and common fixes.
Before you start
Open the VEED webcam test in a desktop browser or a mobile browser that supports camera access. Have the camera, microphone, or headset you want to check connected before you begin. Close other apps that may already be using the camera, because a camera can usually feed only one application at a time. The test runs through the browser and needs your permission to access the selected camera.
Step-by-step instructions
Open the VEED webcam test page. When the browser asks for camera permission, allow access. If you previously blocked the site, you will need to restore camera permission in the browser's site settings before the preview can appear.
If more than one camera is connected, choose the selected camera from the device menu. The menu may also include microphone options when audio is being checked. Select the device you intend to use for your recording or call.
Wait for the preview to appear. The preview shows the live camera feed in your browser. If the browser blocks the camera or the wrong device is selected, the preview may stay blank or show a message instead.
Check the output
Look at the preview on your own screen. The live image is not saved as a file by the webcam test itself. Check that the picture is bright enough, in focus, and framed the way you want for your recording.
The preview reflects the camera feed as the browser receives it. This can help you notice problems such as a blocked lens, poor lighting, low resolution, or a low frame rate. If the image looks sharp and movement appears smooth, the camera is working well enough for most online recordings and calls.
Common problems and next steps
If the preview does not appear after you allow permission, check whether another application is using the camera. Close that app and reload the test page. If the wrong camera is shown, switch devices in the camera menu and reload the page only if the menu does not respond.
For a blurry or dark image, move to a brighter position or place a light in front of you rather than behind you. Clean the camera lens and make sure the camera is not pointed at a bright background that makes you look dark.
If the browser reports that camera permission was denied, open the browser's site settings for the VEED page and change the camera permission to allow. Then reload the page. After making changes, run the test once more to confirm the selected camera appears and the preview moves normally.
