How to Multistream to Kick
Practical steps for sending one live video feed to Kick and another platform at the same time, including setup checks, settings to review, and common fixes.
Before you start
Multistreaming means sending the same live camera or screen feed to more than one platform from a single source. Kick does not provide a built-in destination for other platforms, so the usual method is to run a local encoder on your computer that accepts one video feed and delivers it to multiple stream servers. This process is local to your machine and needs enough upload bandwidth for all destinations combined.
Before changing settings, have the following ready: a Kick stream key, the stream key or destination settings for the second platform, a stable internet connection, and the latest version of your streaming software. Keep stream keys private. If a key is exposed, revoke or reset it in the platform account settings before continuing.
Step-by-step instructions
The exact menu names differ between encoders, but the core setup is similar. The following steps cover a typical desktop encoder workflow. Where your software version has renamed a menu, look for the equivalent destination or output settings.
1) Open your streaming application and create one scene with the camera, microphone, screen capture, or other sources you want to broadcast. 2. Locate the stream destination settings and add your first destination. Select Kick from the platform list if available, then enter the Kick stream key. If Kick is not listed, enter the Kick ingest server and stream key as a custom destination. 3. Add the second platform as another destination and enter its stream key or connection details. 4. Check the audio and video settings for the scene. Use the same resolution, frame rate, and audio sample rate for the output that will be sent to all destinations. 5. Start the stream from the main control panel. The encoder should connect to both destinations and show a connection or health indicator for each one.
Some programs let you enable multistreaming as a setting before the destination list appears. Check the streaming section for an option such as multiple outputs, multistream, or simultaneous destinations. If your installed version does not expose that option, update the software or use a version that supports it.
Check the output
After starting the stream, verify that each destination shows a live connection. In the encoder, confirm that both outputs report a healthy bitrate and no reconnection errors. Open Kick and the second platform in separate browser tabs or devices, then check that audio and video are present and moving. Ask someone else to check the public page if viewing your own account is unreliable.
Watch for buffering or dropped frames in the encoder statistics. A practical starting point is to keep the total upload bitrate below roughly three quarters of the connection's stable upload speed, but verify the exact limit for your connection before relying on a measured value. Some platforms also have maximum bitrate limits that may differ from your source settings.
Common problems and next steps
If Kick connects but the second destination keeps dropping, reduce the total output bitrate or lower the resolution and frame rate in the encoder. This is often the quickest correction for limited upload bandwidth.
If one platform rejects the stream, recheck its stream key and destination URL for extra spaces or copied formatting. Update the key in the encoder and reconnect only that destination if your software allows it. If the encoder lacks a multistream option after an update, check the application's settings or documentation for the correct location in that version.
When audio and video are healthy on both platforms, the main follow-up is to monitor the stream statistics during a full test session. Make one change at a time if you need to improve quality, then recheck both destinations before going live.
