MY WEBCAM TEST GUIDE

How to Adjust NexiGo Webcam Focus

Practical instructions for adjusting NexiGo webcam focus, selecting the right camera, checking resolution and lighting, and fixing common focus problems.

Before you start

NexiGo webcams handle focus locally through the camera hardware and the camera settings available on your computer or in the NexiGo software. You may need to allow camera access before an app can show the video preview. Check that no other application is using the camera first, because many systems allow only one program to access a webcam at a time.

Step-by-step instructions

1) Open the app you plan to use for video calls, recording, or camera testing. In the app settings, choose the NexiGo device as the selected camera instead of a built-in camera or another connected device.

2) Remove any protective film from the lens. Dust, fingerprints, or leftover packaging film can make the picture look soft even when the focus setting is correct.

  • 3. If the model has a manual focus ring, turn the ring slowly while watching a detailed object in the preview.
  • 4. If the model has autofocus, center yourself or another subject in the frame and avoid moving quickly until the image sharpens.
  • 5. If the model includes NexiGo software, open its camera controls and look for exposure, zoom, or focus-related adjustments. Keep the changes small so the result stays easy to compare.

Set the resolution and frame rate only after the focus looks acceptable. Higher resolution can reveal more detail, but it may also make small focus errors more visible. Lower light can force a slower frame rate or cause the image to look grainier, so keep lighting steady while comparing changes.

Check the output

Use a still test subject with clear edges, such as printed text or a patterned fabric. Position it at the distance you normally use during calls. In the preview, check whether the center of the image is sharp and whether the detail remains readable. If the image is sharp only at one distance, note that available focus range depends on the webcam model and lens.

Common problems and next steps

  • Blurry image in one app: verify that the NexiGo device is selected as the camera in that app and that the app has camera permission.
  • Sharp center but soft edges: these cameras are built for a typical seated distance; moving very close or adding a wide-angle adapter can test the lens beyond its intended range.
  • Image was sharp and later became soft: close other camera apps, reconnect the webcam, and test again in one app only.
  • Poor low-light detail: add even lighting from the front and avoid bright backlighting before changing focus again.

If the same blur appears after reconnecting the webcam and testing in another app, check whether the lens or focus ring is physically obstructed. For a new device with consistent blur at normal distance, contact NexiGo support rather than forcing the focus adjustment beyond its normal range.
